ALL LINKS OPEN A NEW WINDOW!!!

As we near the First One Hundred Days of the Obama Administration the one singular thing that won't go away is this touture thing, despite the big meeting of "The Americas" leaders in Trindad and Tobago (Big Handshake Brouhaha with Hugo Chavez) increasing job losses and accelerating housing forclosures on top of bank bailouts that the banks want to give back now that they're showing a profit (imagine that!) and stopping credit card usary and small print among other issues of consequence (like WAR). Although many want an "independent" investigation Elizabeth de la Vega, former federal prosecutor with more than 20 years of experience, counsels us "What we continue to need, in sum, are unwavering spotlights, even more civic education, and, most importantly, an irrefutable and cohesive factual narrative - comprised of direct and circumstantial evidence - that links the highest-level officials and advisers of the Bush administration, ineluctably, to specific instances and victims of torture. What we will surely have, however, if a special prosecutor is named, will be precisely the opposite: The initiation of a federal grand jury investigation right now would be roughly the equivalent of ceremoniously dumping the entire issue of torture into a black hole." Keep this in mind as you tune into the Sunday Funnies, beginning with This George's interview with Iran's MAHMOUD AHMADINEJAD where Snufagupolis asks the Iranian leader what his favorite Klezmer tune is. Not to be undone Meet the David talks to KING ABDULLAH of JORDAN where David asks the King if Queen Noor really is THAT HOT. (Doh!) Then JOHN "Crazy Train" MCCAIN battles PAT LEAHY on Face the Bob. Speaking of kings, State of the King has one of each D-DIANE FEINSTEIN, I-LIEBERMAN & R-LINDSEY GRAHAM where they discuss who wiretapped who and whose spouse will benefit most from the Team Obama economic plan, bank bailouts, healthcare and increased military spending. Later, check 60 Minutes with VEEP JOE BIDEN and a cast of thousands, plus a look at BIG COAL (doubt they'll touch on the "clean coal" astroturfing and where they think they can actually STORE "sequestered CO2"). Do tune in Ring of Fire Radio with CENK UYGUR plus a discussion of Mexican Drug Wars. Also, watch Max about market manipulation and AntiWar Radio with ex-spook RAY MCGOVERN. The Brick TeeVee crew is celebrating the 30th Anniversary of the CLE OH Tri-C Jazz Fest, starting with an AWESOME performance by BUDDY GUY and the Damn Right Blues Band with special guest John Scofield and the Piety Street Band, featuring tunes from their newest effort "Peity Street" recorded in New Orleans and just released. Check it out!

Noam Chomsky on Democracy NOW! Part II of our conversation with MIT professor and author Noam Chomsky on the global economic crisis, healthcare, the media, US foreign policy, the expanding wars in Afghanistan and Pakistan, resistance to American empire, and more. “As far as policy is concerned, unless [Obama] is under a lot of pressure from activist sectors, he’s not going to go beyond what he’s presented himself as in actual policy statements or cabinet choices and so on: a centrist Democrat [who’s] going to basically continue Bush’s polices, maybe in a more modulated way,” says Chomsky. Flashback: A Look Back at the Church Committee on Democracy NOW! We take a look at one of the most famous special Senate investigations of government misconduct. In the mid-1970s, a US Senate committee chaired by Democratic Senator Frank Church of Idaho conducted a massive investigation of the CIA and FBI’s misuse of power at home and abroad. The multi-year investigation examined domestic spying, the CIA’s attempts to assassinate foreign leaders, the FBI and CIA’s efforts to infiltrate and disrupt leftist organizations, and more. We speak with Sen. Frank Church’s widow, Bethine Church, and Frederick A.O. Schwarz, Jr., who served as chief counsel to the Church Committee. ALL LINKS OPEN A NEW WINDOW!!!

First off, a CORRECTION from last week (h/t toniD): Pastor Rick Warren abruptly cancelled an appearance on ABC’s "This Week" in which he would have had the opportunity to clarify his denial last week that he had ever endorsed California’s anti-gay-marriage ballot measure, when in fact he had done so on videotape as reported by politico. All we can say is "YOU FREAKIN' HYPOCRITE CHICKEN!!!" Ahem. So now that even MORE Torture Memos have been released with the stipulation "those who carried out their duties relying in good faith upon legal advice from the Department of Justice that they will not be subject to prosecution." WHAT? So the corporate media will mention NONE of this on Sunday. Instead we'll get RAHM EMANUEL facing off against Crankypants GOP leader JOHN BOEHNER on This Snufagopolis followed by WAYNE LaPIERRE of the NRA telling Face the Bob we need MORE GUNS to prevent GUN VIOLENCE. Then Homeland Security's JANET NAPOLITANO will tell State of the King how Mexicans have too many US-manufactured GUNS and the need for more Americans With Guns need to patrol the U.S. southern border, even as Texas Governor Rick Perry thinks Texas should cede from the Union while the TX Legistature votes to cut Perry's budget by 97%. Not much luck finding discussion about the Torture Memos on Meet the David who will "grill" LARRY "Africa is Under-polluted" SUMMERS about the ongoing economic train wreck Summers and his Wall Street buddies created. We think the best discussion about the Torture Memos will be former CIA Director MICHAEL HAYDEN who will STAUNCHLY DEFEND the torturers on Fake News Sunday. 60 Minutes will outline how everyone has been hoodwinked into investing in 401Ks in place of pensions and plain old savings. Fear not, Ring of Fire Radio takes a look at the worst of the Bu$h admin's enviro laws and has on AGAIN (anybody's guess) TOM "Flat Earth" FREIDMAN. Be sure to cue up ANTIWAR RADIO and click through to MAX KEISER for your economic update. Also check out NAOMI KLEIN for A Lexicon of Disappointment for those suffering "Hopebreak" "Hopesickness" and "Hopelash" or other post-partisan maladies. The Brick Teevee Crew have been working on the new website but it's not quite ready yet. We "hope" we can have it up soon but "things happen". Stay Tuned! Lastly, Congrats to MARK MARTIN winning the NASCAR Subway Fresh Fit 500, first win in 97 races! And GO TRIBE as they blasted a 13-run second inning on the Yankees in a 22-4 rout at the NEW Yankee Stadium! YEAH!

Speaking of BRICK TEEVEE... We urge all our readers and fans to contribute to the alternate media of your choice in place of sending money to candidates who will get plenty of money from corporate PACs and so forth. The Corporate Media has led this country down a very dangerous path. Without the courageous independent journalists, commentators and websites out there we would be in a world of hurt. We think Crank Bait from samsedershow.com has opined the problem, to wit:

The itty-bitty radio station and its call-in show is not Limbaugh or Hannity or Savage or any other money-grubbing asshole who will play to the crowd for a buck. It's real life, far-right, provincial, mostly poorly educated, untraveled, uber-Conservatives chit-chatting with one another. There are a few people (one older woman in particular...probably a retired teacher) who are NOT Conservatives and who know a given subject from all sides before they call in to gently straighten everyone out by quoting experts. But it never penetrates their thick skulls. They don't even realize that they are being corrected. I can hear the radio show host copping Z's when the lady caller is reciting actual facts. Her commentary flies right over his head. Most of the participants live in a Conservative bubble. They hate MSNBC and Olbermann and that lesbian lady whose name they can never remember and they make no bones about it. They quote Fox News and Senator James Inhofe and Dr. James Dobson and all of the rest of the usual suspects. I listen so that I don't confine myself to a Liberal bubble. Even though they tend to have the facts wrong and to draw even worse conclusions, I (at least) learn how they think. It's no wonder that some of them keep the anti-Christ myth alive: It would be really easy to bamboozle 'em with a few Elmer Gantry moves. When you observe them in action, you realize that they have very few buttons that require pushing to make them very happy. They are authoritarians almost to a man and they desperately want to follow a Pied Piper who plays their tune. It is the classic difference between Conservatism and Liberalism. Conservatives want everyone to march in a line and Liberals wander all over the place like mental patients.
Thanks Crank. It's what it's really all about, isn't it?

Pacifica & KPFA Celebrates 60 Years Today marks the Sixtieth Anniversary of Pacifica Radio. On April 15th, 1949 at 3:00 p.m., a charismatic conscientious objector named Lewis Hill sat before a microphone and said, “This is KPFA Berkeley.” With that, KPFA went on the air, and the first listener-supported radio station in the United States was born. Pacifica Radio is the oldest independent media network in the United States, and its sixtieth birthday comes as a deepening crisis engulfs mainstream media. To commemorate the sixtieth anniversary of Pacifica Radio today, we feature a documentary about the first Pacifica Radio station: KPFA in Berkeley. It’s called KPFA on the Air by filmmakers Veronica Selver and Sharon Wood and narrated by Pulitzer Prize-winning author Alice Walker. Face the Bob has Mexico's ambassador to the U.S. ARTURO SARUKHAN to discuss the drug war and gun running while 60 Minutes does a piece on rising gun and ammo purchases inside the U.S. Meet the Davis has a boring roundtable while State of the King talks about the future of Iraq with General RAY ODIERNO and Iraqi National Security Adviser MOWAFFAK AL-RUBAIE. Do catch Ring of Fire Radio with SCOTT HORTON critique on AG Eric Holder and make sure to give a listen to GLENN GREENWALD on AntiWar Radio. The Brick TeeVee crew lost our good friend McFish on Passover Wednesday who was found in the cellar of the fish tank castle. No word yet on suspects or motive. R.I.P McFish. The Brick TeeVee crew moved quickly to clean the tank thoroughly and repopulate the fish tank with a few more freshwater Usual Suspects and a new lighted tank cover! Meanwhile, our pre-planting from a few weeks ago have spouted up some plants, so we look forward to a great garden this year. Our House Wabbits seem unphased by the holiday and only stared at the plastic Easter Eggs. So take it easy on Easter Sunday, spend some time with friends and family and relax a bit. Chow down some ham and Easter Eggs and Peeps and chocolate bunnies. Just don't go chasing White Wabbits!

ALL LINKS OPEN A NEW WINDOW!!!

We're only going to mention a stunning 2-hour video we think everyone should watch & critique with this little LINK. We mention this because we notice the Council on Foreign Relations (CFR) has TWO members appearing this Sunday: President RICHARD HAASS on This Snufagoplis roundtable and Senior Fellow MICHAEL GERSON on the Meet the David roundtable. Listen very carefully to what they say. Of course the G20 "Summit" in London allowed world leaders to make fancy speeches where the common thread was a "new world order" with the U.S. led International Monetary Fund (IMF) getting an additional $1,000,000,000,000 in "financing" and muted calls for a "World Currency" cleverly disguised as SDRs "Special Drawing Rights, a synthetic paper currency issued by the International Monetary Fund that has lain dormant for half a century". In other words, a "magic" currency that amounts to simple ledger entries in the IMF "books". Talk about making money out of thin air! Elsewhere look for new U.S. Ambassador to the U.N. SUSAN RICE on This Week and now WH Sunday regular TIM GEITHNER on Face the Bob. What would Sunday be without DAVID AXELROD, this week on State of John King. Then brand-new can-you-smell-that-new-car-smell GM CEO FRITZ HENDERSON gets in his digs on Meet the David and State of the King, pushing his line-up of 30+ mpg vehicles and how the government will honor your warranty when they file Chapter 7 liquidation in 60 days or so. No sign of ANY leader of ANY union on ANY Sunday program even though more than 100,000 Communications Workers of America (CWA) union members at AT&T are set to strike MONDAY (h/t toniD). Crickets. Tune in 60 Minutes as they push a story about TORTURE IN IRAN without blinking about ongoing, established worldwide U.S. torture camps and prisons. If you haven't already picked your Brick Targets, there's always GEORGE WILL. Ring of Fire Radio features BARBARA BOXER, so catch that on Sunday evening. Also check out Max Keiser's notes from this past week and a discussion about Sunni/Shia tensions on AntiWar Radio. The Brick TeeVee crews' brackets have all gone bust, so they are now playing catch in anticipation of MLB Opening Day. And they have a brand new digitally edited and remastered copy of "Field of Dreams" cued up in the DVD Player. Hello Springtime and "PLAY BALL!"
